12 Hours Too Late

I am a big fan of George Winston. Some of the things he can do on a piano are mindblowing, producing sounds that are incredible to hear and impossible to copy. One of the more unique things about him is the music in which he plays, ranging from Vince Guaraldi to The Doors. This time of year especially- the Christmas season- his music seems to find it's niche and remain there, always ready to spin in the cd player.

I remember a few years ago, the day of my last final exam in my freshman year of college, my sister Beckie and I had a chance to see him perform in New Haven, on December 22nd, right before the holiday. He, of course, played all the Charlie Brown Christmas music, and most of the line-up from his December album. It was a great way to enjoy the holiday, and I'll always remember it as being one of the most influential and inspiring concerts I've ever been to.

As I listened to December this morning, I wanted to relive that feeling, and bring back that warmth by seeing him perform once more. But of course, since my life enjoys mocking me, I missed him by 12 hours, as George Winston was in my backyard LAST NIGHT, playing his holiday concert in West Hartford. As you can see by his schedule, he comes nowhere near my part of Connecticut during the remainder of his tour.

For now, I guess I'll just have to settle with the cd's... but I guess that's not so bad.

Don't you have a sister who lives near Baltimore? He will be performing there Dec 14. :-)

Philosophers have only interpreted the world in various ways; the point is to change it.
