I Once Met A Girl Named Korea

Living in Japan means very easy access to a variety of different places throughout Asia. This past week we took advantage of these travel opportunities yet again and took a trip to Cheju (Jeju), South Korea. It's a tiny resort island located south of Korea's mainland, just west of Japan.

The trip started out a bit rocky, as our flight was canceled due to high winds. However, we were lucky enough to jump aboard another flight which left only a few hours later, and while it required a layover, it was at least the same day.

Regardless of layovers, the trip was very relaxing and quite nice. Tourist season in Cheju is a short two months, and, seeing as this wasn't one of them, we had the island to ourselves much of the time. I took a lot of pictures, mostly of trees and beaches, but take a look because it truly is a beautiful, and virtually unknown, little paradise.

Cheju, South Korea: The temperatures weren't quite tropical, but the scenery certainly was. Add another stamp to the passport, and see for yourself!

there were big cruise ships like the one near your ferris wheel, when we were in venice. they were bigger than the doge's palace, which is pretty damn big, and they would block the whole view of the canal. Then st. marc's square would fill up with 1000 people from the boat, they would look around and take pictures and feed the pigeons then get back on their giant boat, which would park for the night.
i hate cruise ships.

by the way.....

IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!!!!
(we had the ultra sound yesterday)

This is like being on American Idol and having to sing after Kelly Clarkson. But I'll add my oh-so-anticlimatic comments anyway. Your photos are beautiful. Beautiful! Except for the self-portraits. Nah just kidding. Though I am disturbed that Smurf is more than three apples tall. And what was up with that train wreck near Osaka? You affected by it at all? (Mom, don't freak out, I checked the idle time on AIM which indicates that Jed is indeed safe and sound.)

Yes, we were all freaking out about you and karen a bit with the trains crashing daily in Japan ... glad all is well. And ... ours is a girl too! (we think ... unless he has very small bits and pieces)

in reference to the cruise ship, i recently found out is is either the biggest, or second biggest cruise ship in the world.

the train crash was near osaka, but not in the city, so we were safe.

hooray for girls!

I wrote that last message, not Sean. But it was fun to pretend.
