Just curious... would she turn to stone, or is she immune to herself?
I think this shows the answer is no, or else Medusa would have turned Perseus to stone right at the beginning:

that's interesting... it answers my next question, too.. if someone looks at madusa's reflection in a mirror, do they turn to stone.
the only thing about this clip though, it seems medusa has to do some weird power up thing when she wants to turn people to stone. i'm not thoroughly convinced that this is an accurate portrayal of what might happen... but, it's certainly a good argument.
Posted by: jed at April 9, 2008 12:50 PM"Medusa was originally a beautiful maiden, "the jealous aspiration of many suitors," priestess in Athene's temple, but when she was raped by the "Lord of the Sea" Poseidon in Athena's temple, the enraged goddess transformed her beautiful hair to serpents and she made her face so terrible to behold that the mere sight of it would turn a man to stone."
I think they used the "neon eyeballs turn you to stone" trick, in leu of casting Sarah Jessica Parker in the role.
