Getting Older

I definitely feel like I'm getting older based on one very specific element: music.

I really just don't get it for the most part, however there are some songs that break through the annoyance of the teeny bopper age that I find myself humming and singing when no one (or everyone) is around. Don't ask me why, because I have no idea, but for whatever reason I actually think I like these songs.

Live Your Life by T.I. featuring Rihanna

Love Lockdown by Kanye West

Sexyback by Justin Timberlake

and of course....

Womanizer by Britney Spears

These are just a few, and rather than make myself look totally stupid I'll stop there. It's just interesting though, there is a clear difference between music of today and music of the early/mid 90's which is where my musical mind still sits. I don't consider myself grunge, but I do miss bands like Nirvana, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Foo Fighters, No Doubt, etc. You just don't find music like that anymore (the old school versions of them anyway), instead you get Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus... or, you get hardcore rap. What happened? And where are we headed?

You definitely like those songs. So do I. There's nothing wrong with that. You have an open mind and you'll be able to relate better to your kids. And we will also have lots of fun car rides but we'll have more to sing than just the Spice Girls. :-)

I am stuck in 80s New Wave rather than 90s grunge, but I like all 4 of those songs too!! I especially like Love Lockdown. I think Kanye West is a fantastic songwriter and producer, not such a great singer though. As Carl says - imagine Love Lockdown sung by Stevie Wonder. THAT would be amazing.
