Last night Karen and I carved pumpkins. I carved a pirate ship, Karen carved a face.

A Red Sox Prayer

Not sure where this originated, but it is certainly fitting:

Our Father, who art at Fenway...
Baseball be thy game.
Thy Kingdom come,
Playoffs need to be won,
On Earth, then on to the Cask 'n' Flagon.

Give us this day, a perfect Papi,
And forgive us our losses,
As we forgive those,
Like Bill Buckner.

And lead us not, into desperation,
But deliver us from any losses.

For thine is the Power,
And the Glory,
To beat the Indians,
Forever and ever....the Yankees suck"

Must See TV

It is true that I like to watch Reality TV, so I know it may be somewhat unimportant when I proclaim a show is 'must see' or 'can't miss'.

However, on October 30th, one of the absolute greatest 'reality' shows I've ever seen returns to television in an all new season: Everest 2 - Beyond The Limit.

I stumbled across this show last year around the time I got my very first High Definition television, and I thought 'hey, this would look neat in high def'. I was right. Furthermore, I read Into Thin Air awhile back (a book which subsequently sparked my first ever interest in reading... an interest that has by now long passed... but oh well) and ever since then I have been somewhat fascinated with Mount Everest.

I was happy to see a commercial today (while on the eliptical... oh the things you learn while you exercise! Whomever thought of putting personal TV's on exercise equipment should be given an award or something). It appears that some of the same climbers are on the trek this year, along with quite a few new ones. The commercial didn't go into too much detail, but it seems that it wasn't an easy climb... not that it ever would be.

So it is with this I ask all of you to forget about the last two posts on Kid Nation... I really do know what I'm talking about, and this show is absolutely fantastic. Set your DVR, your TiVo, your good old fashion VCR... or just park yourself in front of the TV on October 30th. I promise you'll be hooked.

Kid Nation: Part 2 (Actually Episode 3)

My Kid Nation inner thoughts continued....

This episode has started out just like the last one ended... bizarre. The old kid is giving a toast, and they are all about to have a party. He appears to be holding some kind of alcoholic beverage. He is only 15, why would he have alcohol. Seriously though, I think the kids are drinking beer and hard liquor. Seriously. Some of them are 8 years old. They are slamming shot glasses on the counter, chugging something out of bottles, and they just did an Irish car bomb. (I think that's what it's called. See, I don't even know, how do these kids have any idea?!)

Old kid just called a girl the village idiot, and now she's crying. Way to go old kid, your tough. You can make a 14 year old girl cry. Now he swore. This makes him tougher.

Oh no, old kid was hiding and overheard people saying he's a bad influence. He jumped out and acted all tough, because he's cool. Way to prove you're not a bad influence, older kid. The other older kid had to 'hold him back' because he's so cool.

This show is boring.

I think a kid is trying to catch a cow. He did not succeed.

Something fishy is going on. They've only had about 3 meals so far, and all of them were exceptionally small. Not to mention the health violations. They just served hash browns to people in their hands. (I don't think they have sinks in the outhouses in Bonanza City.)

The host sounds like the voice from Fuzion Frenzy. (You know what I'm talking about Taylor)

You know, I planned to keep this going for awhile, because I found it sort of funny. But I just realized I was totally ignoring the show for the past 10 minutes because it is just so bad.

Oh well Kid Nation, maybe I will try again next week.
